Mojo Music Acquires Indie Publishers Chelsea Music - Billboard

Mojo Music & Media, the company launched by former Spirit Music principle Mark Fried and other partners, has acquired a majority stake in London-based Chelsea Music, the publisher started by industry veteran Eddie Levy.

The Chelsea music publishing current roster includes such classic American songbooks tunes as “Come Fly With Me,” “High Hopes,” and ”Ain’t That A Kick In The Head,” '60’s pop hits like “Game Of Love,” Classical Gas,” and “In the Year 2525,” soul and disco songs like “ Right Back Where We Started From,” “Just The Two Of Us,” and “Rock The Boat," and other hits like “You’re No Good,” and “Candy Girl, among others.

Chelsea Music will remain in operation and serve as the London presence for Mojo with Levy staying on as managing director/CEO. Levy, who founded Chelsea 33 years ago, was previously with ATV Music, Welbeck Music, and Heath Levy Music, which he co-founded.

Levy’s “love of music, impeccable character and devotion to his songwriters – many of whom are among the best of our generation – are all a perfect fit with Mojo’s mission,” Mojo Music & Media CEO Fried said in a statement. “Eddie’s five-decades of experience will be invaluable in terms of our growth aspirations and Chelsea’s first-rate administration and auditing capabilities, managed by veteran royalties executive Richard Morris, will be at the very heart of the world-class custom royalties platform we’ve built.”

Earlier this year, Fried and his partners Peter Shane and Allan Wallis announced the founding of Mojo Music & Media and the acquisition of Nashville-based HoriPro Entertainment Group.
